Report

American J.T. Poston put together an absolute masterclass in ball-striking and distance control during the second loop of the Memorial Tournament, firing a magnificent seven-under-par 65 to seize the solo lead at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Navigating the increasingly difficult afternoon winds with superb tactical discipline, Poston combined eight brilliant birdies with great speed on the lightning-fast greens to establish a stellar pace for the rest of the field to chase. Poston's flawless execution allowed him to climb the standings and build a narrow cushion over a highly resilient Ryan Gerard, who continued his stellar tournament performance by signing for a steady under-par round to maintain supreme structural pressure just one stroke back.

Right on their heels, a dangerous chasing pack consolidated its position on the leaderboard, with a surging Sam Burns securing solo third place and England's Tommy Fleetwood remaining firmly inside the front-running mix despite battling a firmer golf course. Meanwhile, elite competitors Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele manufactured highly efficient loops to stay embedded in the chasing pack, while defending champion Scottie Scheffler battled through a wild afternoon to keep his moving day hopes alive.
