Report

Scott Hend and Brian Gay took command of the Senior PGA Championship on Friday, April 17, 2026, finishing the day tied for the lead at 10-under-par. Hend’s primary objective was to capitalize on his momentum from the morning wave, which he achieved by firing a spectacular 7-under-par 65, highlighted by a clinical display of iron play.

Gay matched him at the top of the leaderboard after carding a steady 4-under 68, bringing their two-day totals to 134. The second round saw significant movement from Stewart Cink, who rocketed up the standings with a 5-under 67 to join Retief Goosen and Ben Crane in a tie for third at 8-under-par.

While the leaders flourished, others found the complex greens of The Concession more difficult; Bernhard Langer struggled during his second round, posting a 4-over 76 to slip back to 2-under-par for the tournament. The official cut fell at 2-over-par, resulting in several high-profile exits, including Alex Čejka and John Daly, who both finished at 3-over.

As the field prepares for the weekend, the stage is set for a high-stakes battle with the top five players separated by just two strokes.
