Senior PGA Championship Round 1

The opening round on Thursday, April 16, 2026, concluded with a high-caliber leaderboard featuring a three-way tie at the top. Bernhard Langer, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, and Stephen Allan all carded impressive rounds of 6-under-par 66 to set the pace at Concession Golf Club.

Langer, continuing to defy age, relied on clinical precision, while Jiménez charmed the gallery with a vintage performance highlighted by sharp iron play. Brian Gay also joined the group at 6-under, matching the lowest score of the day.

Trailing just one stroke behind are Ben Crane, Retief Goosen, and Thammanoon Sriroj, who all posted solid rounds of 67. The defending champion and other notable names remained within striking distance, including Padraig Harrington and José María Olazábal, who both opened with steady 68s.

The conditions remained fair throughout the morning, though the afternoon starters faced increasing gusts that made the narrow fairways even more treacherous. As the first round concludes, the stage is set for a weekend of heavyweights battling for senior golf's oldest major title.
