Pirelli Dutch Round Free Practice gets under way at TT Circuit Assen on . It's live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK and HBO Max Spain in Spain.
Lucas Mahias set a blistering pace on Friday, April 17, 2026, topping the combined standings during the Pirelli Dutch Round. Mahias’ primary objective was to exploit the agility of his GMT94 Yamaha YZF-R9, and he did so with clinical precision, posting a session-best 1:36.490.
His performance was enough to secure the provisional top spot before the field transitioned into the afternoon Superpole, where he ultimately confirmed his dominance by claiming pole position for the weekend's races. The practice sessions were marked by incredibly tight margins, with the top 15 riders separated by less than a second.
Valentin Debise, riding the new ZXMOTO 820RR, finished a close second with a 1:36.561, proving the competitive parity of the new regulations. Spanish rider Albert Arenas completed the top three, just 0.082 seconds off Mahias' pace.
Notable performances also came from Tom Booth-Amos on the Triumph and Can Öncü, who rounded out the top five. The session was briefly interrupted by a red flag due to a minor technical spill at the Strubben corner, but the field returned quickly to the track, setting a record-breaking pace for the Supersport class under the cool but dry Drenthe skies.
