Leigh Wood put an emphatic full stop to his feud with Josh Warrington, delivering a boxing masterclass to secure a dominant unanimous decision victory. Unlike their first meeting, which was a chaotic firestorm, the Nottingham man utilized a disciplined, tactical approach to keep the relentless Warrington at bay for the duration of the twelve rounds.
The early stages saw Warrington attempting to replicate the high-pressure success he had in their first fight, bloodying Wood's nose in the second round with a sharp left hand. However, Wood’s composure was the deciding factor this time.
Working behind a stiff jab and landing jolting uppercuts in the middle rounds, the hometown favorite began to bank a significant lead on the scorecards. By the championship rounds, it was clear that Warrington needed a knockout to win, but Wood’s footwork and defensive awareness allowed him to cruise to the final bell.
The judges’ scores reflected Wood’s control: 119-109, 119-110, and 117-111.
