Eduardo "Sugar" Nunez proved his world-class status by defeating Emanuel Navarrete in a grueling 12-round war to become the unified WBO and IBF Super Featherweight Champion. The fight began as a tactical chess match, with Navarrete using his superior reach to land looping uppercuts, but Nunez’s disciplined high guard and steady body work began to pay dividends by the middle rounds.
In the eighth round, Nunez landed a crunching left hook that visibly staggered Navarrete, forcing the veteran into survival mode. While "Vaquero" showed his trademark heart by rallying in the tenth, Nunez's sheer power and accuracy were the deciding factors.
The judges scored the contest 116-112, 115-113, and 117-111 in favor of Nunez. This victory marks a changing of the guard at super featherweight, as Nunez moves his record to 30-1 and cements himself as a top pound-for-pound candidate.
